B.S.P.S.
This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (B.S.P.S.), and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in B.S.P.S. classes, whether or not members of the B.S.P.S. are subject to the Rules of the B.S.P.S., including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the B.S.P.S.
This Show is a qualifier for The 2012 B.S.P.S. Summer Championship Show, The B.S.P.S. Challenge, The B.S.P.S. Premier League, The B.S.P.S. Champion of Champions and B.S.P.S. Best Rider of the year. All classes will be judged in accordance with the B.S.P.S. Rules.

Lead Rein to be attached to Noseband only. Judging will be on the suitability of the pony for Pony Club / Riding Club activities & the combination of pony & rider.
151 BEST PONY CLUB / RIDING CLUB TYPE PONY, First Ridden – Ponies must be 12.2 & under. Child not to have attained their 11th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 160 WORKING HUNTER PONY MARE OR GELDING 4yrs old and over. Pony exceeding 13h.h. (133cm) and not exceeding 14h.h. (143cm). Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

S162 CHAMPIONSHIP: The ‘EVENTIDE TROPHY’. To be competed for by 1st and 2nd Prize Winners in Classes 159 – 161.
163 Unaffiliated – OPEN MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND WORKING HUNTER PONY, Stallion, mare or gelding 4 years old or over. Riders any age. Ponies must jump in their correct height section. Riders may ride more than one pony providing the animals are of a different height section.

166 THE B.S.P.S MIXED HEIGHT OPEN SHOW HUNTER PONY Mare or Gedling 4 years or over, exceeding 122 cms and not exceeding 153cms. Riders MUST be the correct age for the height of the animal they ride.
167 THE B.S.P.S. OPEN INTERMEDIATE SHOW HUNTER. MARE OR GELDING 4 years old or over, exceeding 14.2h.h. (148cm) and not exceeding 15.2h.h (158cm). Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

189 BEST TURNED OUT HORSE, exceeding 148cms. Judging will be on suitability of rider to horse / pony & cleaniness of tack & turnout.
190a FAMILY PONY. Judged on Manners, Conformation, Turnout and Suitability as a safe family pony. Snaffle bridles. Rider any age. Special rosette to be awarded to the winning lead rein pony.
190b FAMILY HORSE. Judged on Manners, Conformation, Turnout and Suitability as a safe fanily horse. Snaffle bridles. Rider any age.
191 PRE-VETERAN 15-19 years old. Horse or Pony In-Hand. Exhibitor any age
192 VETERAN 20 years old and older. Horse or Pony In-Hand. Exhibitor any age

195 RETIRED RACEHORSE, all entries must be registered with Wetherbys in the general stud book, this class is open to thoroughbreds that have raced or been in training for a minimum of three months. Horses will not be ridden by the judge.
S196 CHAMPIONSHIP: The ‘JO NORMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY’, To be competed for by 1st and 2nd Prize Winners in Classes 188-195.

SIDE SADDLE

Class Description
197 CONCOURS D ELEGANCE – to be judged in the Main Ring. The Sole criteria for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of three or four riders to give short displays. 3 special rosettes will be awarded to the highest place adult wearing a silk hat, and the highest placed adult wearing a bowler hat and the highest placed junior, provided they are members of the S.S.A. and are carrying their current membership card. NB Silk hats are permitted to be worn by adults in this class at any time of the day. Junior riders must wear hats to current British Safety Standards or above for this class. Adult riders not wearing such hats do so at their own risk.
198 The side saddle OPEN EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING CLASS –Run under S.S.A. rules defined in the current Members’ handbook and are open to S.S.A. members and non-members. Juniors must be aged under 16 on 1st January of the current calendar year. Members carrying their current Championship Points cards are eligible for S.S.A. rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and S.S.A. Championship Points.
199 BEST HORSE or PONY RIDDEN SIDE SADDLE – Open to horses and ponies 4 years old and over: Conformation and manners will be taken into consideration. Special rosette to the highest placed Adult and Junior members of the S.S.A.
200 LADIES HUNTER – Open to horses over 4 years and over to be ridden by a lady (adult) side saddle. Open to S.S.A. Members and non-members. Entries will be NOT be ridden by the judge.
SIDE SADDLE CHAMPIONSHIP sponsored by Area 12 Side Saddle Association – 1st and 2nd class winners from classes 197 – 200 are eligible to compete.

RIDING FOR THE DISABLED

Class Description
201 INDIVIDUAL LED HANDY PONY/RIDER. Open to any aged Competitor, but age will be taken into consideration. The class will consist of a Handy Pony Course. Competitors will also be judged on appearance of Rider, Helpers, and Pony, and on suitability of the pony’s tack.
202 INDIVIDUAL UNLED HANDY PONY/RIDER, As Class 201.

HUNTER CLASSES

209 NOVICE WORKING HUNTER. Mare or Gelding 4 years old or over. Exceeding 148 cms. Not to have won first prize money of £20 or over Fences will not exceed 90cms.
210 OPEN WORKING HUNTER. Mare or Gelding 4 years old or over, exceeding 148 cms. Riders to have attained their 16th birthday by 1st January in the current year. Fences will not exceed 105cms.

JUNIOR TEAM KNOCK OUT COMPETITION

Open to Pony Clubs, Riding Clubs & Young Farmer Clubs
Main Ring at 4.30pm
Commentators: C. Grant Esq. & M. Hardstaff Esq. Chief Steward: D. Murtagh Esq., Stewards: A. Hardstaff, M. Fisher Esq.
ENTRY FEE £10 and each team must supply at least one steward to help put up fences.
Each rider will receive two entry bands into the show (entry on show day is £7.50 each)
ROSETTES: 1st to 6th
DRESS: Hacking Jackets or Team shirts / sweatshirts, long sleeves compulsory.
